Edenderry Tidy Towns holds successful table quiz
Over 80 people turned out to support Edenderry Tidy Towns (ETT) recent Table Quiz Night at Byrne's Bar & Lounge in the town.
Stephen Savage, the newly appointed Chair of ETT extended a sincere thank you on behalf of the committee to everyone who attended and supported the quiz, saying that the turn-out represented a broad spectrum of the Edenderry community.
Thanking all local businesses and sponsors who donated prizes, as well as Byrne’s Bar & Lounge for hosting and providing food, and Edenderry GAA for supplying an impartial quiz master and adjudicator, Stephen congratulated the winning team of Frank and Anne Kilraine, Hugh O'Neill and Ms O'Hanley, who scored an incredible 76 correct answers out of a possible 80.
Stephen said: "Even for a small community group, nights like this remind us just how big the support around us really is. The table quiz isn’t just a fundraiser as it’s a gathering of neighbours, friends, families and people who care about the future of Edenderry. Every ticket bought, every table filled and every answer attempted directly supports the projects that help keep Edenderry a cleaner, greener and more welcoming place for all."
He added that the funding raised - and the active participation of sports and social clubs, the OCC, residents, community groups, and student population - empowers ETT to be ambitious in its plans for the future.
"With the current support from clubs, schools, societies and volunteers, we can take on new improvements, fresh ideas and those little touches that make a big difference around town. We simply couldn’t do it without these people," said Stephen.
As a result of the night’s success, a ‘Big Belly’ solar-powered litter bin will soon be installed along Edenderry's harbour canal walkway. This will be the first of many projects planned for 2026, and Stephen emphasized that the more community participation they have, the greater the achievements can be.
ETT is planning key projects in collaboration with clubs, schools and residents’ associations throughout 2026.
“Community engagement is at the heart of what we do. We welcome suggestions from schools, clubs and residents for future projects,” said Stephen.
Anyone interested in getting involved with ETT can join the group every Sunday morning at 9am in the Square (beside the Town Hall), or connect through ETT's social media platforms.
