Rhode candlelight concert deemed a huge success

Rhode was alive with music, warmth and community spirit on Sunday evening last as Rhode Goes to Hollywood presented its much-anticipated Candlelight Concert in St. Peter’s Church.

The beautifully atmospheric setting, enhanced by candlelight and festive décor, provided the perfect backdrop for an exceptional evening of live music that drew a large and appreciative audience from Rhode and surrounding areas.

Hosted with warmth and professionalism by John Hogan, the programme showcased an impressive lineup of local and visiting talent. Performances by Rhode Choir, Croghan Choir, Alison Nolan, Joe Mangan, Gay Lawton and Todd Morrissey, Paula Canning and Gerard Lillis, Josh and Ryan Turner, as well as John Hogan and Tony Allen captivated the audience throughout the evening, culminating in a rousing Grand Finale. C

losing remarks were delivered by Peter Kilmurray, bringing a memorable night to a fitting conclusion.

The interval raffle was very well supported, with generous prizes kindly sponsored by Dowling Headstones, Edenderry; Bergin’s Butchers, Edenderry; Eden Decor, Edenderry; and Heavey’s – The Bog’s Dollops, Rhode Village. Their support, along with that of the wider community, contributed greatly to the overall success of the event.

Organisers have expressed sincere thanks to all performers, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees who helped make the night such a standout occasion. The concert was not only a celebration of music and talent, but a true reflection of the strong community spirit that exists in Rhode.

With its outstanding turnout and overwhelmingly positive feedback, the Rhode Goes to Hollywood Candlelight Concert will be remembered as a highlight of the festive season and a wonderful example of what can be achieved when a community come together.

There are several fundraising events happening, leading up to the main Hollywood night in Tullamore Court Hotel in March 2026.
