Contract signed for new Moneygall Community Centre
Construction on a brand new state-of-the-art community centre in the village of Moneygall is due to get underway next month, following the signing of a contract for the project.
The official signing of the construction contract with Build More Joint Ventures (JV) was announced this week by Moneygall Development Association, who said it marks "a major milestone" in the ongoing enhancement and community development of the area.
The new community centre will feature a flexible space designed to host community gatherings, meetings, cultural events, and sporting activities well into the future. Along with a modern kitchen, dressing rooms, external toilet facilities, dedicated car parking and e-car charging points.
The landmark project is being delivered with the support of the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht - Community Centre Investment Fund – New Build, Offaly County Council and local funds. Moneygall was selected as one of twelve locations for new community centres to be constructed under this national initiative.
Moneygall Development Association has paid tribute to the support it has received from Offaly County Council, and particularly the Regeneration Team, who provided guidance and hands-on assistance from the initial application stage right through to the present contract-signing phase.
Chief Executive of Offaly County Council, Anna Marie Delaney congratulated Moneygall Development Association on the contract signing for their new community centre, describing them as "an exemplary community group" in the county who have secured significant grant funding to develop their village by "creating a plan, working hard and coming together as a community." She also expressed "full confidence" in their ability to deliver the project.
Ger McIntyre of Build More and John O' Loughlin EHS Engineering Contractors both welcomed the signing of contracts and reaffirmed the joint ventures commitment to delivering a high-quality facility for Moneygall.
Sean Nolan, Chairperson of Moneygall Development Association, welcomed the signing of the contract which he said marks "an exciting new chapter for Moneygall." He said the new community centre will be "a transformative asset" for the local community where people of all ages can come together, participate in activities, and build a stronger, more connected village.
Mr. Nolan also expressed the gratitude of the local development association to Offaly County Council for "their unwavering support" and said the group look forward to working closely with Build More JV as construction on the new Moneygall Community Centre begins in the New Year.
