Birr GAA Club lodges important planning application

Birr GAA Club has submitted a planning application with Offaly County Council for development works at its home ground, St Brendan's Park on Railway Road.

The application was received by the Council on Tuesday, December 23 and entails for the construction of a new retaining wall/ball wall to the rear of the southern end of the eastern spectator terrace with an astro-turf area, associated perimeter fencing, floodlighting and all ancillary site works.

Founded in 1909, Birr GAA Club promotes Gaelic Games and participates in hurling, football and Scór competitions at adult and juvenile level. The club has achieved notable success over the years including winning four All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling titles from six appearances in the national showpiece event.
