Deep sadness at untimely passing of "diligent and kind" Tullamore GP
Many warm tributes have been paid to the memory of Tullamore's Dr. Patricia Garry, following her untimely passing this week, with one tribute describing her as “a brilliant GP who went the extra mile to ensure the best possible care for her patients.”
Dr. Patricia Mary Garry from Tower House, Clonminch passed away peacefully in the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore yesterday (Monday, December 29), surrounded by her loving family.
The late GP operated her own very successful medical practice in the Market Square for many years, where she was hugely-respected by her many patients. Many of the online tributes from former patients referred to her caring nature and her holistic approach to healthcare, with one tribute referring to her as “a lovely lady and a most professional, diligent and kind doctor.”
Other tributes to the late GP said she was “greatly loved and respected” by all who knew her; “a “wonderful doctor who said it as it was!!”and was “eccentric, fascinating, and memorable......and refreshingly straight-up and direct.”
Other patients recalled how she was “passionate about medicine and people” and spoke of how she gave “ exceptional care to her patients, and certainly put her patients first, sometimes at a personal cost to herself.” She was also described as “funny, straight-talking and brave.”
Dr. Garry is pre-deceased by her parents, Michael and Mary and by her brothers Oliver and Ted and her sister, Anne. She is sadly missed as a cherished sister by Marie, Aidan, Dympna, Alo, Brendan, and Dolores; her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, relatives and friends, and by all who encountered her throughout her medical career.
Funeral details:
The remains of Dr. Garry will repose at O’Reilly’s Funeral Home on Harbour Street (Eircode: R35 FC84) this evening (Tuesday, December 30) from 4pm to 6pm.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Church of the Assumption, Tullamore tomorrow morning (Wednesday) at 10am, followed by burial after Mass in Clonminch Cemetery.
