Offaly teams make pre-season competition progress
The Offaly senior footballers continue their competitive season with an O'Byrne Cup quarter-final contest against Meath in Gracefield on Wednesday night (throw-in, 7.30pm).
Goals from Rory Egan, Aaron Leavy and Cormac Egan proved crucial as the Faithful County saw off the challenge of Carlow in the opening round of the competition on Saturday.
Offaly last won the O'Byrne Cup in 1998 and will be hoping to account for the 2025 Leinster finalists who defeated Wicklow by two points in their first round encounter.
Meanwhile, the Offaly senior hurlers will travel to Duggan Park Ballinasloe to play Galway in the Walsh Cup semi-final this Saturday afternoon (throw-in, 2.30pm).
Offaly's opening round fixture against Antrim was cancelled on Sunday afternoon due to an unplayable Glenisk O'Connor Park venue, Johnny Kelly's charges advancing to the final four of the competition courtesy of a successful coin toss.
Offaly will be hoping for a successful first competitive outing of the season and advance to the final of a competition they last won in 1994.
