Offaly Domestic Violence Support Services launch St Brigid’s Day cold water swim

Offaly Domestic Violence Support Services (ODVSS) has announced the launch of a St Brigid’s Day cold water swim, inviting swimmers across Offaly to take part in a fundraising initiative supporting vital local services.

The campaign’s theme for this year is “Cold Water, Strong Women, Safer Communities.”

The event calls on established cold water swimmers, swim groups and individuals to brave the water in honour of St Brigid, celebrating her legacy of strength, resilience and community.

Participants are encouraged to swim on their own or as part of a group, while raising funds for ODVSS. All money raised will remain within the county and will be used to support women, children and families experiencing domestic abuse.

Funds will go towards the organisation’s free counselling and play therapy services, which provide crucial emotional and therapeutic support to those in need.

Organisers say the swim is open to everyone, whether they are regular cold water swimmers or taking the plunge just once a year, emphasising that every participant can make a meaningful difference.

Participants are asked to register their swim, fundraise, and help spread awareness by sharing their involvement on social media.
