Accessible Counselling Tullamore celebrates six years since opening
Accessible Counselling Tullamore has marked six years since opening today, Tuesday, January 20.
The service was officially opened by late businessman James O'Connor and his partner Lisa O'Connor in January 2020.
"ACT is celebrating being 6 years open, and we are also welcoming our 3,000th client, a milestone that truly stops me in my tracks," Lisa said.
"When James and I first dreamed of ACT, we hoped it would be a place where people felt safe, respected and never alone in their hardest moments. I don’t think either of us could have imagined just how many lives this little service would go on to touch.
"Every number represents a person. A story. A brave step taken. I am so proud of how far ACT has come, and even more committed to where we are going next."
The ACT co-founder expressed her thanks to clients, counsellors, staff and the board for being a part of the journey, as well as to the community and donors.
She added: "We would not be here without your support and generosity."
Remembering her co-founder and partner James, Lisa wrote:
"Your heart is in every part of this service. Your legacy continues to help people heal, every single day. I am honoured to continue what we have built together."
A businessman who ran the successful company Fititout.ie, James was a prominent mental health campaigner and was named Offaly Person of the Year in 2021.
