Temporary closure of hospital chapel confirmed

The Chapel at the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore is to remain closed until at least the beginning of April for essential renovation works, including window replacement and internal refurbishment.

The temporary closure of the Chapel, which came into effect on Monday, January 12 last, was announced in the parish bulletin, which said the measure was taken in order to "care for the this sacred space" and ensure that the Chapel "remains a place of dignity and prayer."

The notice in the parish bulletin said the Hospital Chapel holds "a special place" in the life of the local hospital, offering "a quiet space of worship, prayer, and reflection for patients, families, visitors, and staff."

It is hoped that the Chapel will reopen "on or around 1st April" with confirmation being provided by Tullamore Parish closer to the completion of the works, according to the notice.

"We are grateful for your understanding and patience during this time and look forward to welcoming all back to the Chapel once the work is complete" said the Parish team.
