Decision in March on Offaly GAA club's expansion
A decision is expected from Offaly County Council in March on a planning application submitted by the trustees of Daingean GAA Club for a substantial development on the club's grounds at Townparks, Philipstown.
The proposed development includes the construction of a new 145m x 90m sports pitch, complete with a viewing stand, eight floodlights each of 18 metres in height, a toilet block and storage area.
A second viewing stand has also been proposed as part of plans submitted to the local authority and would be located at the existing main sports pitch to the south of the site, along with a new toilet block and storage area.
Permission has also been sought by the trustees of Daingean GAA to connect to the main foul sewage on site.
The original planning application was submitted to the local authority in December but due to a issues with some of the details originally submitted, the trustees of the club were requested by the council to resubmit the development proposal.
The planning application was resubmitted to Offaly County Council on Thursday, January 15.
Members of the public can make submissions on the plans up until February 18. The council is then expected to make its planning decision on the proposed development by March 11.
