Offaly tourism business attends trade event in Germany

An Offaly tourism business recently joined in a Tourism Ireland effort to attract German holidaymakers to the country.

Silverline Cruisers, based in Banagher, was one of 11 tourism businesses from Ireland which this week attended the CMT holiday exhibition in Stuttgart.

Barbara Smyth of Silverline Cruisers flew out to the event which is one of the biggest travel fairs in Germany, attracting around 300,000 visitors.

The nine-day CMT holiday exhibition also attracts leading tour operators and travel agents, as well as around 1,500 travel and lifestyle journalists.

Nadine Lehmann, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Germany, said: "CMT in Stuttgart provides an excellent opportunity to spread the word about the many great things to see and do in Ireland and to inspire German holidaymakers to put Ireland on their ‘wish-list’ for 2026.

"Germany is the third-largest source of visitors to Ireland and one of the largest outbound travel markets in the world."

Tourism Ireland said it will "continue to showcase Ireland’s iconic landscapes, culture and history, as well as our superb culinary offering and great festivals" over the course of 2026.
