Midland Warriors to host Lip Sync night in Moate
Midland Warriors RFC is swapping rugby gear for microphones this Sunday as the club prepares to host a Lip Sync fundraising event that promises big performances, plenty of laughs, and strong community spirit — all in support of the club’s growing future.
Taking place on Sunday evening, February 1 in the Grand Hotel, Moate, the event will see players, coaches, parents, volunteers, and friends of the club take to the stage as part of ten lip sync teams, each delivering their own unique performance.
With weeks of rehearsals already behind them, participants are ready to entertain while raising vital funds for the club.
Founded in 2005 with just one underage team, Midland Warriors RFC has grown into a thriving club with 492 registered members.
This rapid growth has brought exciting opportunities — and the need for expanded facilities.
Funds raised on the night will directly support the development of the club’s new facilities at Bawnoges, near Moate, ensuring the Warriors can continue to provide a safe, welcoming, and competitive environment for players of all ages.
Work has already begun, with the first blocks of the new clubhouse laid last week. The next phase includes the development of changing rooms, showers, and communal spaces, as well as ongoing work on a much-needed car park to accommodate the increasing numbers involved in the club each week.
Adding extra sparkle to the evening will be a judging panel featuring three well-known faces:
Rosemount native and former International Rose of Tralee Rachel Duffy; Midlands 103 presenter Tilly Dawson-Stanley; and Tullamore's Jordan Conroy, who has represented Ireland in sevens rugby on many occasions, including in the Olympics in Tokyo and Paris.
A special guest MC, with strong links to television and sport, will also be on hand to guide the night’s entertainment.
Whether you’re supporting a family member, a teammate, or simply looking for a great night out, the Lip Sync fundraiser is set to be an evening of fun, community, and celebration — all while helping to secure the future of Midland Warriors RFC.
Doors open at 6.30pm, with the show starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are available online at https://www.events54.com/event/warriors
