Tullamore's Mooney adds to a growing soccer reputation

Talented young Offaly soccer star Emma Mooney added to her growing reputation when she represented the Republic of Ireland Under-17 team in a 3-0 win against Hungary in Spain yesterday (Wednesday, February 4).

Mooney, from Tullamore, and her Athlone Town team-mate Abbie Duffy have been shining in the League of Ireland club's set-up for some time, and have recently won international recognition on numerous occasions. Both players are expected to have very exciting careers ahead of them in the League of Ireland.

Last season, at the age of 15 years, nine months and 22 days, Mooney became the second youngest player to score in the League of Ireland Women's Premier Division, while also becoming the youngest player to score a brace in a top-flight fixture.
