Award-winning Birr illustrator to host workshop at Kilbeggan Library
Birr illustrator Shannon Bergin will pay a visit to the newly refurbished Kilbeggan Library to celebrate Ireland Reads day on Saturday, February 28, from 11am- to 12pm.
Shannon is known for her work in children's literature, winning the 2025 Irish Book Awards Children’s Book of the Year (Junior) for 'Run Home, Little Fox'.
She has also previously taken home the 'ABLE' Artist Book Award and LIT Permanent Selection Award.
Her workshop at Kilbeggan Library will include a short presentation on design principles such as shape language, colour design and symbolism, and how these ideas are used in popular books and movies as well as through Shannon’s own work.
Participants will use worksheets and templates to create masks based on these concepts and colour them using colour theory principles to tell their story.
The event is suitable for children aged 4 to 10, and must be accompanied by an adult.
