The family of Sherin Abraham, a devoted nurse and cherished member of the Esker Rí Nursing Home team in Offaly, has received an outpouring of support following her sudden passing at the age of 43.

A fundraising campaign set up by Sherin’s cousin and colleague, Bibin Joseph, has already raised €20,913 from 668 donations as of Tuesday, 10 February.

The funds will help Sherin’s family as they grief the unexpected loss. Sherin leaves behind her heartbroken husband, their two young children, her loving mother, and her siblings, Friends and colleagues all of whom are struggling to come to terms with this immense and sudden loss.

Having overcome a life-threatening medical condition in recent years, faced with "extraordinary courage, determination, and sheer willpower", Sherin emerged stronger, embracing life with renewed hope and resilience.

Originally from India, Sherin was renowned for her dedication to nursing, working across multiple countries, most recently in Ireland.

Her colleagues at Esker Rí described her as “a much-loved member of our team, known for her kindness, dedication, and the care she showed to both her colleagues and the people we support.”

The staff paid tribute to the "strength and commitment" of Sherin and her family, as they moved from India to Ireland to "build a life and career far from home".

"We also want to recognise the courage and sacrifice shown by so many who leave their home country, families, and communities to work abroad. We honour that journey and the contribution Sherin made, both professionally and personally.

"Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Sherin’s family, friends, and all who are grieving at this very difficult time. We ask our community to continue showing compassion and support to one another."

Bibin Joseph, who organised the fundraiser, emphasised the importance of the community coming together.

"As we remember and celebrate Sherin’s life, a life marked by courage, kindness, and selfless service, we humbly ask for your support," he said.

"She touched many lives through her compassion and care. Let us come together to honor her memory by standing beside the family she loved so deeply."
