Walsh Island native appointed as a Peace Commissioner for Offaly
Walsh Island native Liam Carty has been officially appointed as a Peace Commissioner for County Offaly and adjoining counties.
The appointment took effect on Wednesday, February 11.
The appointment was made by Niall Collins TD, Minister of State with responsibility for International Law, Law Reform and Youth Justice, under the authority of section 88 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1924 (as amended).
Peace Commissioners have important responsibilities, including taking statutory declarations and oaths, witnessing signatures on documents required by various authorities, and signing certificates and orders under various Acts.
