Second bike to be launched in April for Lough Boora's 'Cycling Without Age' service
A second trishaw bike will be officially launched this April as part of the expanding Cycling Without Age service at Lough Boora Discovery Park.
The popular initiative, which enables wheelchair users and older members of the community to enjoy outdoor cycling experiences, has already commenced at the park.
The Trishaw can accommodate two passengers and has a powerful electric motor to assist with the effort of pedalling. It also has a retractable footrest to allow for easy entry for those with mobility issues.
To support its continued growth, a second wheelchair platform bike will be purchased in February, further increasing access to the service.
Training on the safe operation of the trishaw is ongoing and is delivered by Bord na Móna, ensuring volunteers are fully equipped to provide safe and enjoyable journeys.
Healthy Offaly continues to offer support and expertise to community groups interested in establishing their own volunteer-led trishaw services, helping to expand the reach of the initiative across the county.
