Mountlucas Parkrun returns after cancellation

After a large amount of heavy rainfall, there was substantial flooding at Bord na Móna Mountlucas windfarm, resulting in the cancellation of Mountlucas parkrun on Valentine's Day. Several sections of the course were completely impassible.

After last week's cancelled parkrun, there was a great turnout at Mountlucas parkrun this week. 74 runners, joggers and walkers completed the 5km looped course. There were visitors from as far afield as Tralee and Lurgan. There were no milestones celebrated on the day, however there were personal bests (PBs) achieved by an amazing 13 of the participants.

The female and male first finishers on the day were Catherine Bennett and Luis Iemma (who also achieved a new PB). The event was supported by 14 different volunteers: Enda Scully, Kevin Curran, Neil Deere, Willie Duffy, Dennis Kearney, Michael Kearney, Martin Lawlor, Darren Mooney, Paschal Naughton, Larry Rigney, Penny Rogers, Mary Rown, Mairéad Scally, and Mairéad Walsh.
