Tullamore native claims national Garda sports award
Tullamore native Sheila Clavin has been recognised for her sporting prowess by her peers at the An Garda Siochana Coiste Siamsa Awards.
The awards, held annually, honour members of An Garda Síochána and Garda staff, serving and retired, who have made an outstanding and significant contribution to sports and sports administration.
As a member of the Irish Masters rowing team, Sheila competed at the World Masters Championships in Banyoles, Spain, in September 2025.
It proved to be a rewarding experience for the Rathkeale-based Garda as she claimed nine gold medals across single sculls, double sculls, fours and eights races.
While winning her gold medals, Sheila also set numerous personal best records and emerged from the Championships with the fastest overall time as a single sculler from a field of over 400 competitors.
Sheila is a previous winner of two Coiste Siamsa awards, having claimed the rowing award in 2012 and the cycling honour in 2013.
