Grand Marshal confirmed for St Patrick’s Day parade in Rhode
Dr Larry Gavin has been chosen as the Grand Marshal for the St Patrick’s Day parade in Rhode this year.
Rhode GAA is once again heavily involved in promoting the parade and the club has paid tribute to Dr Gavin's contribution to the area over many years.
The club said Dr Gavin “showed great dedication and service to the community and beyond while serving as the local doctor” in the village from 1973 to 2011.
The parade in Rhode on Tuesday, March 17 will begin at 10am from the Coolcor roundabout and will proceed into Rhode village. All households along the route are encouraged to decorate their homes with bunting and flags.
Rhode GAA said plans are well underway for this year’s parade, but the club is calling on all local groups, clubs and schools to play their part in the local celebrations of the national feast day.
