Thirteen patients awaiting beds in local hospital

Some 13 patients admitted to Portiuncula University Hospital were awaiting beds this morning.

Figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) indicated that six were in the Emergency Department and five in wards.

Nationally, there were 626 admitted patients waiting for beds. Of those, 445 patients were waiting in the emergency department, while 181 were in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

There two patients waiting on beds in Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, while there are no patients waiting on a bed in Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore.
