Offaly’s Alex Dunne set to begin Formula 2 season in Melbourne

Offaly racing driver Alex Dunne will begin his 2026 Formula 2 season this weekend in Melbourne as part of the Alpine Academy.

The young driver, who continues to rise through the ranks of international motorsport, will line out for the opening round of the F2 championship at the Australian Grand Prix circuit.

On Wednesday, Alpine confirmed the signing of Dunne to the team's driver academy.

The team wrote on social media: "Welcoming @alexdunneracing to the BWT Alpine Academy.

"The Irishman will compete in @Formula2 this season with @RodinMotorsport."

Condron Concrete, one of Dunne’s long-time supporters, wished him well ahead of the season opener.
