Acclaimed Offaly-based vocalist Megan Walsh releases debut solo single
Acclaimed Offaly-based singer Megan Walsh has released her debut solo single, Mo Chroí, today (Friday).
Best known for her role as a principal vocalist with Celtic Woman, Walsh now steps into the spotlight as a solo artist, presenting a deeply personal track that reflects her artistic growth and Irish heritage.
Mo Chroí was recorded at Cauldron Studios in Dublin and produced by acclaimed musician Bill Shanley.
The track was mixed by Chris O’Brien and Graham Murphy, with contemporary fiddle added by Colin Farrell, giving the song a rich and emotive texture.
Walsh first performed the song live at the Celtic World Forum concert last October, receiving an enthusiastic response that confirmed it as the perfect choice for her debut single.
While her work with Celtic Woman celebrated Ireland’s musical traditions on a global stage, Walsh’s solo material offers a more intimate and personal expression of her artistry.
“I wrote this song for my younger self,” Walsh said, “I wanted it to feel like I was giving her a hug, telling her that everything turns out okay.”
During her four years with Celtic Woman, Walsh featured on four albums and two television specials, gaining hundreds of millions of streams and performing on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, the London Palladium, and Red Rocks.
Her time with the group introduced her voice to audiences worldwide and established her reputation for vocal excellence and emotional authenticity.
With the release of Mo Chroí, Walsh begins a new chapter, one defined by artistic independence and a fearless commitment to following her heart.
