Walk in Tullamore Town Park to mark National Tree Week

Offaly Climate and Biodiversity Action Group will join forces with Tullamore Tidy Towns Association for an event in Tullamore's Lloyd Town Park on Saturday next, March 14, to mark National Tree Week.

Local historian and tour guide, Richard Jack, will guide participants on a walk titled 'A look beyond the trees to small features of biodiversity” from 11am to 12 noon on Saturday next. The one-hour walk is open to everyone and participants are asked to meet at the Cormac Street entrance to Lloyd Town Park.

The Tullamore event is part of a host of events taking place nationwide to mark National Tree Week, which is taking place all this week and was officially launched by Uachtarán na hÉireann, Catherine Connolly, at a ceremonial tree planting at Newbridge House and Farm, Co. Dublin

Led by the Tree Council of Ireland celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and proudly supported by Coillte, National Tree Week is Ireland’s largest annual tree celebration, designed to inspire, educate and connect people of all ages with the importance and benefits of trees and forests.

‘Growing a Greener Future Together’ is the theme of this year’s National Tree Week, bringing communities across Ireland together to celebrate the many benefits trees and forests deliver for climate, nature, wood and people. With over 1 million trees donated since the beginning of the partnership, Coillte is once again providing 100,000 trees to schools and community groups across Ireland, supporting tree-planting initiatives that enhance local biodiversity and contribute to the growth of Ireland’s forest network.
