Lough Boora Discovery Park expands accessible cycling fleet

Lough Boora Discovery Park has welcomed the latest addition to its Cycling Without Age initiative: a new wheelchair-accessible electric-assist bike.

The bike will allow wheelchair users to explore the parklands more easily and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

Both the new bike and the existing trishaw, launched last year with support from Kilcormac Development Association and Healthy Offaly, are available free of charge to users and organisations.

The new addition was made possible through funding from Offaly County Council and Healthy Offaly.

The original trishaw has proven to be a highly popular experience for visitors with mobility challenges, and the park hopes the new bike will expand these opportunities.

Tullamore Cycle Centre assisted in sourcing the most suitable wheelchair bike for Lough Boora.

In the coming weeks, training will be provided for volunteer pilots, and the park is encouraging inquiries from anyone interested in using the service. For more information, contact info@loughboora.com
