Offaly Fianna Fáil will host the first of a series of events to mark its centenary with a race night in Maunsell's Tullamore on Thursday, April 16, at 8pm.
There will be a top prize of €500, with additional prizes including a voucher for the Tullamore Court Hotel. An auction race will also take place on the night.
Ronan Feighery, chairman of Offaly Fianna Fáil CDC, said the event would be the first held to mark the the party's centenary celebrations in the county.
“It will be the first of the social events to be run in conjunction with the centenary celebrations which also include, but are not limited to, a golf classic, a tent at the Tullamore Show, a strong presence at the Ploughing Championships and a dinner dance at the back end of the year.
“The race night is an opportunity for local Fianna Fáil stalwarts, and prospective new members, to come together, socialise and have a bit of craic, with Rock on Paddy the MC," Mr Feighery said.
All of Fianna Fáil’s local elected representatives will be present on the night, including Tony McCormack TD, who added: “Fianna Fáil has been omnipresent in the county for the past 100 years this will be the first of a number of events over the course of 2026 to celebrate the party’s contribution to the locality, which will tie in with several other events at national level over the course of the year".
Race cards are available through the offices of Deputy McCormack and Barry Cowen MEP, any Fianna Fáil councillor, your local cumann or Ronan Feighery (0877535082).
