Large number on trolleys in Portiuncula this morning

Seventeen admitted patients were on trolleys at Portiuncula University Hospital in Ballinasloe this morning, figures have shown.

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) on Monday morning show that nationally there were 548 patients on trolleys, of which 368 were in the emergency department and 180 on wards.

In Portiuncula, ten of the 17 patients on trolleys were in the emergency department and seven on wards.
