Tullamore Musical Society award sixth honorary life membership
Tullamore Musical Society has awarded honorary life membership to long serving committee member Aoife Fitzsimons.
The Society bestowed the honour for the sixth occasion at its AGM held in Tullamore Court Hotel on Tuesday night.
In a social media post acknowledging the latest honorary life membership inductee, Tullamore Musical Society said Aoife was 'the heartbeat of the society'.
'Aoife joined the society in 2003 as a member of the chorus in our rousing production of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and from then became a part of the heartbeat of the Society.
'Over the years, Aoife has taken on many roles, both on and off the stage. Most notably, she has served an incredible 16 years on committee. That includes six years as chairperson, three years as president, two years as secretary and five years as a general committee member'.
The Society also paid tribute to her on stage exploits where she 'brought professionalism, warmth, and a real sense of joy to every role she takes on'.
'On stage, Aoife has given us just as much to celebrate in her performances as Golde in Fiddler on the Roof, Mrs Potts in Beauty and the Beast, the Mikado in Hot Mikado, and Morticia in The Addams Family.
'But what perhaps says even more is that Aoife is just as proud to stand in the chorus. She embraces every role - big or small - with the same commitment and creativity.
'She is a friend to everyone in this Society. She makes people feel welcome, included, and valued. She goes out of her way to support others, often quietly and without recognition'.
During the AGM, Tullamore Musical Society remembered 'those Honorary Life Members who have gone before' - Fr Laurence Bannon, Eileen Cronin, and Anna Browne - and acknowledged 'our current Life Members, Brian Gunning and Frank Nicholson'.
