Special night to remember trad legend Dan Cleary
Rahan Comhaltas is co-hosting a special night to honour traditional Irish music legend Dan Cleary.
The event, in association with Hall Fame Ireland, will take place on Saturday, May 2, at St Mary’s Youth Centre, Tullamore.
The event is being organised as a posthumous hall of fame induction and tribute night.
Dan Cleary was born in Ballinamere. He was founder member of his own band, the Ballinamere Ceili Band. He won three-in-a-row All Ireland Uilleann Pipes Championships and many more All Irelands along with that. He was a founder member of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann in 1951.
At 2pm on Saturday, May 2, there will be a Dan Cleary Commemorative Mixed Céilí with Maureen Culleton Dancers. Musicians and singers are all welcome. This event is suitable for all ages and admission.
Later that night, at 8pm, John Gaffey or Rahan CCE and Derry JF Doody of Hall Fame Ireland look back at the life and career of Dan Cleary.
This is a celebration of Irish music for everyone and all ages to come along and enjoy!
