Apartment plan for site containing former ballroom
Proposals to convert two properties, including the building containing the former ballroom, in Banagher to apartments have been revealed.
A planning application has been lodged with Offaly County Council for the proposed development on a site which comprises two properties, the former Shannon Ballroom or ‘Quigley’s Hall’ and former Quigley’s Merchant Tailors on Main Street, Banagher.
The applicant, KRWN and MHN Limited, which is the owner of the properties, is seeking permission for a change of use of the properties to a multiple-apartment building comprising ten apartments. These are to consist of three studio-type apartments, six one-bed apartments, and one two-bed apartment.
The former Quigley’s Merchants Tailors building is a protected structure with its shopfront seen as a fine example of a traditional heritage shopfront design
The application states that it is not proposed to carry out any alterations to the existing finishes front façade of the buildings. All external finishes will remain or be restored.
Offaly County Council is currently expected to adjudicate on the planning application by June 11.
