Local songwriter and DJ to release his second single
Connor Doyle, also known as JaxofNoTrades, is stepping firmly into the Irish dance scene with the release of his latest single, 'Not Your Type', on Friday next, May 1.
Doyle, who is an alumni of St Mary's Secondary School in Edenderry, and originally from Carbury in Kildare, has been making a transition from corporate life to the world of music.
Formerly a consultant at a big accounting firm after graduating from Trinity College in Dublin, Doyle took an unconventional path into music.
Having written songs from a young age, he initially set creativity aside to pursue a more traditional career. However, he quickly noticed how with work commitments he had little time for creative outlets, essentially leaving his love of music behind.
During the later stages of the Covid-19 lockdown he returned to music, experimenting with remixes and original ideas on GarageBand, reigniting a long-standing passion.
In 2024, he released his debut single 'Time Of Our Lives', a milestone he describes as "one of the proudest days" of his life.
For that single, although he wrote the lyrics and brought the concept for the track, but didn't handle the production side of the release.
He always wanted to learn how to produce his own tracks but given his work commitments he had limited time. So he decided to save up money and take the leap last year to attend a music production course. "I guess if you never try, you will never know!" he said.
In 2025, he temporarily relocated to New York to study music production. 'Not Your Type' was born during this period, evolving from a lyric idea he had written years earlier while back in secondary school at St Mary’s, Edenderry.
"I always had a concept in my head for how the song should sound, but never had the tools to bring it to life. The course changed that. This was actually my first full track from scratch and I'm super proud of what I was able to create in such a short period of time."
'Not Your Type' will be getting exclusive coverage next week on Midlands 103 before general release on May 1. A remix of 'Not Your Type' is also set for release on May 7, with more music planned for later in 2026.
