Additional tickets have been released for the opening event at this year's Birr Festival of Music on Friday, May 1.

The Merry Band have the honour of being the first act to perform at the classical music festival at the RHSI Bellefield House & Gardens, Shinrone, at 1pm.

The Merry Band is a new ensemble, bringing together four of Ireland’s most distinguished and in-demand musicians, Deirdre O’Leary on clarinet and bass clarinet; Susan Doyle on flute, alto flute and piccolo; Dermot Dunne on accordion and Malachy Robinson on double bass.
