Bourke to make Essendon VFL debut this weekend

Former Tullamore GAA senior footballer Cillian Bourke will make his Australian Rules Football debut for Essendon on Saturday.

Bourke has been named to start the club's match against Williamstown in the Victorian Football League (VFL) which is the second-tier competition operated by the Australian Football League (AFL).

Essendon, a club located in the suburbs of Melbourne, confirmed the signing of Bourke on a two season rookie contract in December 2025.

Speaking to the official Essendon website following the signing of his contract in December, Bourke said his aim was "to push forward" and become one of the Ireland success stories".

“It’s pretty special to be here, and I can’t wait to further experience the professional AFL life,” Bourke added.
