Screeney misses out as Offaly name team for Kilkenny clash

Offaly will be without injured corner forward Adam Screeney for their Leinster senior hurling clash with Kilkenny in Glenisk O'Connor Park Tullamore on Sunday at 3pm.

The team, named by manager Johnny Kelly, this afternoon (Friday), shows three changes to that which was defeated by Galway in Pearse Stadium Salthill in the county's second provincial championship outing.

Kilcormac-Killoughey's Colin Spain and Shinrone club player Luke Watkins form a new centrefield partnership, while Birr's Eoghan Cahill replaces the hamstring stricken Screeney in the full forward line.

Offaly return to Glenisk O'Connor Park Tullamore on Sunday following their opening round robin draw with Dublin.

The concession of two late goals in Salthill saw the Faithful County lose out to Galway in a game where they were highly competitive for long spells.

Offaly host a Kilkenny team who returned to championship form against Wexford having been well beaten by Galway in their opening provincial encounter.

Offaly will play their penultimate round robin fixture against Wexford on Saturday, May 16, at 6pm, in Glenisk O'Connor Park, before completing their provincial campaign with what could prove a pivotal game against Kildare in St Conleth's Park on Sunday, May 24.
