Offaly hurling captain recovering following medical procedure

Offaly GAA have confirmed that senior hurling captain Charlie Mitchell has undergone a medical procedure at St James' Hospital in Dublin.

A statement issued by the county board said that Mitchell felt unwell after the Leinster SHC draw with Kilkenny on Sunday and went to the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore to be assessed.

'Charlie was then transferred to St James' Hospital where he underwent a procedure last night (Sunday).'

Offaly GAA added that Mitchell was 'currently recovering and is in good form' following the procedure.

The Kilcormac-Killoughey forward scored one point in Glenisk O'Connor Park as Offaly played out an end-to-end draw with the reigning Leinster champions before an enthralled attendance in Tullamore.

Eoghan Carroll, deputising for the injured Adam Screeney, was The Faithful County's scorer-in-chief with 15 points, including the injury time equaliser from a '65'.

Offaly now have two points from their three provincial games played to date and remain firmly in contention for a place in the All-Ireland series.

They Wexford on Saturday evening in Glenisk O'Connor Park Tullamore (throw-in, 6pm) with their final outing against Kildare in Cedral St Conleth's Park Newbridge on Sunday, May 24 at 2pm.
