Screeney returns to Offaly team for crunch clash

Adam Screeney has been named in the Offaly senior hurling team for Saturday's crunch Leinster championship game against Wexford in Glenisk O'Connor Park Tullamore on Saturday evening at 6pm.

The team shows three changes from that which drew with Kilkenny at the same venue last weekend.

A centrefield pairing of Cathal King and Dan Ravenhill replace Luke Watkins and Cathal Spain, while Screeney deputises for team captain Charlie Mitchell who continues has recovery following a medical procedure.

Following two provincial draws to date, Offaly remain firmly in contention to progress to the All-Ireland series of this year's championship.

Opponents Wexford have secured one Leinster championship win to date when they defeated Kildare in their opening fixture. They have since been defeated by Kilkenny and Dublin.

The hosts know that a win on Saturday evening will leave them in a strong position to secure a top three finish on the Leinster senior hurling championship table with The Faithful County's final round robin fixture against Kildare in St Conleth's Park on Sunday, May 24.
