Milestones celebrated in sunshine at Mountlucas Parkrun
This week's Mountlucas parkrun was a super morning of sunshine and celebration, with over 90 participants and volunteers taking part.
The atmosphere was electric with Paddy Carlyle completing his 100th parkrun and Ger Dempsey completing his 250th parkrun.
After the event, Paddy said: "I want to thank everyone at Mountlucas for all their support. I wouldn't have done 100 without the great community down there, and I want to thank those from Mullingar who travelled; it was really appreciated."
He spoke very positively about the experience of completing 100 parkruns: "100 runs sounds like a nice thing but it's much more. It means I dragged my lazy self an extra 500km that I never would have done without parkrun. A 100 runs is also an extra hobby, health benefits, community and support, half marathon, adventure races and training. For me, the 100 represents much more than a lovely round number."
Both Paddy and Ger were supported on the morning by family and friends and both of them brought along loads of goodies to enjoy after the parkrun.
Ger said: "I think I picked the best day weather wise! It was great to celebrate the day with family and friends at Mountlucas. Almost all of the 250 (244) have taken place at Mountlucas."
In addition to these milestones, Patrick O'Keeffe completed his 150th parkrun, and Sharon Flynn and Shane Davy completed their 25th parkruns.
