Offaly boxing club to be represented at Four Nations tournament

Edenderry Boxing Club's Rachel Lawless will be among a strong field of Irish boxers to compete at the upcoming Four Nations tournament in Scotland.

Ireland is set to send its largest ever contingent to an international tournament, with 88 boxers taking part from Thursday, June 11 to Sunday, June 14. The event will take place at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell.

The tournament will include boxers at all age categories from U15 to elite, representing Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. The 2026 edition marks a revival, after a years’ long hiatus, of a tradition of competing between the four countries.

One in five Boxing Ireland clubs is represented on the team, which is drawn from 70 clubs in 25 counties.

Portarlington's Rachel, a member of the Defence Forces, represents St Brigid's Boxing Club, Edenderry and recently fought at the European U23 Championships in Budapest. Also among the boxers contesting for Ireland will be two-time Olympic champion, Kellie Harrington.

She is joined by 2025 world bronze medalist and Mullingar fighter Patsy Joyce (Olympic BC) and several other World and European medal-winners.

Boxing Ireland President, Anto Donnelly, is head of delegation, while the overall team manager is Anna Moore, of St. Francis BC, Limerick. Each team will have its own dedicated team manager and coaching staff.
