Offaly residents invited to attend property branding sessions
Muintir na Tire and an Garda Síochána will be hosting two community alert property branding sessions in Offaly on Friday, May 29.
The first event will be staged at Ballyboy car park at 11.15am and then between 2.30pm and 4.30pm at Birr mart.
Property branding, said a statement from an Garda Síochána, has many benefits including making it easier for Gardaí to identify ownership of stolen property; acting as a deterrent to theft and onward sale by thieves; uses speciality laser suitable for all items; and is easily recorded for proof of identification.
Included among the list of items suitable for property branding include trailers and horse boxes, quads and bikes, helmets and gear, phones, tablets and laptops, cameras and other devices, musical instruments, garden tools (including mowers and strimmers), power washers and power tools.
Anyone attending the events in Offaly are asked to bring their driving licence along with any property to be branded.
