Two Offaly outlets honoured at XL Retailer of the Year awards
Two retailers from Offaly were among an elite group from around the country who have been honoured for their outstanding commitment to their communities at the annual XL Retailer of the Year Awards Celebration Event. The awards were held recently in The Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone, with RTÉ commentator Marty Morrissey as the special Master of Ceremonies.
Hosted by BWG Foods, owners and operators of the XL Retail brand in Ireland, the Awards are presented to XL stores that demonstrated outstanding industry excellence following a comprehensive programme of assessments carried out by Ireland’s leading Retail Audit company, SMA Retail Specialists.
Grogan's XL Cloghan Service Station won the overall XL Store of the Year Award 2026 and also took home the Best Forecourt Award and the Best Sustainability Initiative Award.
Enda and Mary Scully, XL Daingean, were presented with the Best Neighbourhood Store Award.
Paul Bealin, Cash and Carry Sales Director, BWG Foods, said: “XL Retailers strive for excellence in every aspect of their service to their customers and the local communities in which they are embedded. In meeting the standards of the independent SMA assessments, our retailers have demonstrated their commitment to being industry leaders in exceeding customer expectations. I congratulate Grogan's XL Cloghan Service Station and Enda and Mary Scully, XL Daingean and their teams on this wonderful achievement. Their efforts have been truly outstanding, and their recognition is very well-deserved.”
