Road closure planned for Tullamore as Cox’s Bridge Active Travel works progress

A temporary overnight road closures will take effect at the Clara Road/Clontarf Road junction in Tullamore as part of the Cox’s Bridge Active Travel Scheme.

To facilitate resurfacing works, a full road closure will be in place at the Clara Road/Clontarf Road junction between 8pm and 6am, beginning on Monday, June 15, and continuing for five consecutive nights.

Diversions will be clearly signposted throughout the duration of the works.

Dunne Brothers Ltd. has been appointed by Offaly County Council to carry out the works, which form part of a wider project aimed at improving pedestrian infrastructure and road safety in the area.

The scheme includes the construction of new and widened footpaths, upgrades to pedestrian crossings, drainage improvements, and road resurfacing works. The project was approved under the Proposed Traffic Calming Measures Clara Road/Clontarf Road, Tullamore Part 8 Planning Permission granted in October 2024.

Offaly County Council said the temporary traffic management measures are necessary to allow the contractor to complete the resurfacing works safely and efficiently.
