Offaly history society visits Leinster House
A group of more than 30 members from the Dunkerrin Parish History Society visited Leinster House on Tuesday, 9 June.
The visit, organised by Fine Gael TD Deputy John Clendennen, included a guided tour of the historic parliamentary complex, with members also given the opportunity to visit Government Buildings during their trip to Dublin.
Deputy Clendennen spent time with the group discussing the history and significance of the buildings, while also providing an insight into the day-to-day workings of the Oireachtas.
The visit offered local history enthusiasts a chance to engage directly with Ireland’s national parliament and learn more about the legislative process.
Speaking after the visit, Deputy Clendennen said he was delighted to welcome the society to Leinster House.
“It was a pleasure to welcome the Dunkerrin Parish History Society to Leinster House. I was happy to get the chance to chat with them about the history of the buildings and the vital work that takes place within the Oireachtas. I would like to thank the group for making the journey to Dublin and I hope they enjoyed the experience.”
