New committee elected at Tullamore Toastmasters
Tullamore Toastmasters elected a new committee at its Annual General Meeting this week.
The meeting, on Thursday at Fergie’s Bar, Market Square, resulted in the election of the following incoming committee to take office from July 1: President: Francis Keenan; Vice President Education: Timothy Green; Vice President Membership & Secretary: Eileen Fleming; Vice President Public Relations: Charles Malone; Treasurer: Catherine Ryan and Fáilte Officer: Donna Ryan
Prior to the election, reports from the outgoing officers gave a full picture of the club’s successful year. Timothy Green, reporting both as outgoing President and Vice President Education, reflected on progress, noting particularly how well the club had fared since taking the decision last year to move from hybrid meetings back to fully in person gatherings — a move that has seen membership numbers grow steadily. Treasurer Catherine Ryan presented a clear financial statement, confirming the club is in a strong position, and advised that a grant received from Tullamore Credit Union will provide welcome support for activities in the coming term.
Members also celebrated a major achievement: the club has officially achieved Distinguished Club status this year, recognising its commitment to excellence.
Just before the meeting drew to a close, Charles Malone spoke a few words in memory of Tomi Reichental, who passed away recently. He paid tribute to Mr Reichental as a great friend and supporter of the club, and his remarks were warmly received by all present.
Following the election, Incoming President Francis Keenan spoke of his enthusiasm for the year ahead, saying he was greatly looking forward to working with the new committee. He congratulated the outgoing officers and all members on the club’s success, especially on achieving Distinguished status.
The next meeting will take place in two weeks’ time, on Thursday, June 25, which will be the final gathering under the outgoing committee. Dates and details for the new term will be confirmed shortly after the new team takes office.
Tullamore Toastmasters provides a welcoming environment for anyone wishing to build confidence, improve public speaking, and develop leadership skills. Guests are always welcome to attend.
