Appeal against data centre ruled invalid by An Coimisiún Pleanála

An appeal against a proposed €1 billion data centre project at Rochfortbridge has been ruled invalid by An Coimisiún Pleanála.

On its website, An Coimisiún gives the following description of the project:

‘Demolition of the derelict dwelling and sheds for construction of a data centre facility and decentralised energy resource with all associated site works. The project includes development that includes an activity requiring an Industrial Emissions Licence from the EPA. An Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) accompanies this planning application.’

The decision on the appeal is: ‘Invalid – no acknowledgement of local submission S.127(1)e.’

The parties are:

• John Conway (3rd Party Appellant) (Invalid)

• Westmeath County Council (Planning Authority) (Active)

• Red Admiral DC Limited (Applicant For Development) (Active)

• John Conway (3rd Party Appellant) (Active)

Westmeath County Council gave permission for the project earlier this month subject to 32 conditions.
