Mountlucas parkrun marks ninth birthday
It was a pleasant but windy morning for this week's Mountlucas parkrun which marked nine years of parkrun at Bord na Móna Mountlucas windfarm. Pippa Hackett, the Event Director for Mountlucas parkrun said a few words to mark the occasion. She thanked the team of Run Directors (Mark Hackett, Mairéad Scally, Kevin Curran, Neil Deere, Mary Dunne, Martin Lawlor, Paschal Naughton and Enda Scully) for their work behind the scenes and all the volunteers who make Mountlucas parkrun possible week after week. There were a handful of people in attendance who were also at the first ever Mountlucas parkrun including regular volunteer stalwarts Rita Corcoran, Mary Rowan and Paul Palmer.
Enda Scully celebrated his 200th parkrun and brought a selection of goodies for everyone to celebrate. A total of 56 runners and walkers competed the course on the morning and many stayed around afterwards to chat and enjoy the cakes, including visitors from County Leitrim and Essex.
