Tullamore hospital invites patient feedback through National Inpatient Experience Survey

Patients who spent 24 hours or more as an inpatient at Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore during May 2026 are being reminded that this is their last chance to take part in Ireland’s seventh National Inpatient Experience Survey before the survey closes on Friday, July 24.

The National Inpatient Experience Survey is a nationwide programme of engagement spanning 40 public hospitals from six HSE Health Regions. The survey invited people who spent 24 hours or more in a public hospital during the month of May 2026 to share their care experiences.

Findings from previous iterations of this survey were used to inform improvements to the quality and safety of care provided in public acute hospitals.

Throughout June and July 2026, eligible participants have received text messages from CareSurvey, a trusted sender, inviting them to complete the survey through a secure link.

Anyone who is unsure of the safety of the link received through text message is encouraged to contact the National Care Experience Programme, via the helpline or email. People can call the Freephone service 1800 314 093 (Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm) or email info@yourexperience.ie.

The survey includes 53 questions covering every aspect of inpatient care, including admission to hospital, the ward environment, care and treatment, interaction with staff and discharge from hospital.

Results from the survey will be used to improve care by identifying what is working well and where improvements are necessary.

Since 2017, over 66,000 people have taken part in the National Inpatient Experience Survey nationwide. Feedback gathered from past surveys has directly informed quality improvement initiatives across local and national levels to improve the experience of hospital care.

Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll McNeill said: “The National Inpatient Experience Survey gives people an opportunity to share their experience of inpatient hospital care and I encourage as many people as possible to take part. The feedback gathered through this survey allows us to continue to improve the services we provide to our patients.”

Louisea Burke, General Manager of Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore, said: "We would encourage everyone who has received an invitation to take part in the National Inpatient Experience Survey before it closes. The survey provides patients with a valuable opportunity to share their experiences of care at Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore.

"Whether patients wish to highlight positive aspects of their care or identify areas where improvements can be made, every response is important. The feedback received helps us to better understand our patients’ needs and supports our ongoing efforts to provide the highest standards of care."

All survey responses will be anonymised, analysed, and compiled into a national report detailing the quality of inpatient care. The final report will be published in late 2026 and made available to the public on www.yourexperience.ie.
