Number of Offaly films to screen at Boyne Valley International Film Festival

A number of Offaly films are set to screen at Boyne Valley International Film Festival (BVIFF) this August.

The festival returns from Friday, August 7, to Sunday, August 9, at the Droichead Arts Centre in Drogheda for its fifth year.

Although the festival takes place in Drogheda, many of the festival’s highlights have an Offaly connection.

At 7pm on Friday, August 7, FilmOffaly's short film award winner 2024 “For The Cure” continues its festival run and is directed by Boyne Valley native Conor McCormick. Elsewhere on the bill is Emma Ray’s horror film “Dearg”, which contains scenes shot at Charleville Castle.

Director Aaron Clarke recently moved to Offaly and his award-winning film “The Death Notice of Eamonn McCarthy” will be shown on Saturday, August 8, at 12pm.

Daingean duo Garret Daly and Martina McGlynn’s “A Vinyl Goodbye” screens on Sunday, August 9, at 4.15pm. The documentary follows Grammy winning record producer PJ Curtis as he reflects on a life in music while he prepares to donate his lifelong vinyl collection.

The producers, Garret and Martina, are award-winning Irish filmmakers and producers who run the production company Mixed Bag Media based in Daingean.
