It's a knockout as Daingean's McCourtney continues to take MMA by storm

Daingean fighter Jason McCourtney continued his impressive rise in the MMA ranks at the weekend, recording another first-round victory at Virtus in Omagh.

The Éire Grapple, Tullamore prospect needed just 49 seconds to finish the contest, securing a first-round knockout and adding another impressive result to his growing record.

The victory marks McCourtney’s third first-round finish, with the Offaly native continuing to establish himself as an exciting young prospect on the Irish MMA scene.

Training out of Éire Grapple in Tullamore, McCourtney is part of a group of fighters developing under the guidance of head coach Kieran Davern. The local gym has produced a number of professional fighters over the years, and McCourtney will be hoping to follow a similar path.

For now, his focus is on remaining active and continuing to gain valuable experience, with plans already in place for McCourtney to make the move into the professional ranks next year.

With three first-round finishes now to his name, and a professional debut on the horizon, McCourtney could be one to watch as he continues his progression.
