By Rebekah O'Reilly
A total of 16 families and 54 single people were homeless in Offaly at the end of September, the council has heard.
The Housing Section of Offaly County Council said that of those, four single people and three families consisting of 11 individuals were ready to exit homelessness in the coming weeks.
"When somebody enters homelessness, they're not left to their own devices," one housing official said.
"They are given an action plan, and we have a network of services available to them."
Services available within Offaly County Council include The Good Shepherd Centre, Midlands Simon Community, Peter McVerry Trust, and Sophia Housing.
The figures came as part of a wider update from the Housing Section.
