Six Offaly schools approved for summer works

Six Offaly schools are to benefit from upgrades to their facilities next year under the Government's Climate Action Summer Works Scheme 2027.

The six Offaly schools include Scoil Náisiúnta Naomh Eoin, which has been approved for toilet facility improvements, Ballykilmurry National School which is to undergo mechanical improvments and St Joseph’s National School where electrical upgrades are planned.

Ardscoil Chiaráin Naofa has received approval for window replacement works, while Tullamore College and St. Brendan’s Community School have both been approved for roof improvement projects. Minister for Education and Youth Hildegarde Naughton announced a total of €80 million for projects across the country under the 2027 Climate Action Summer Works Scheme.

The scheme supports schools in addressing building condition needs while delivering climate action measures that improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and lower operational costs.

Offaly TD John Clendennen said the investments will "make a real difference" to the lives of students, teachers and school communities.

"Ensuring our schools have modern, safe and energy-efficient facilities is essential, and it is good to see investment reaching both primary and post-primary schools across the county," he stated.

"I look forward to seeing these six projects progress and will continue working closely with school communities and the Minister to secure further investment in educational facilities throughout Offaly."
